Each morning, we wake up and go through our normal daily routine. Not really thinking about our eyesight unless we get something in our eye that causes us to stop for a minute. Other than that, our eye health probably isn’t anywhere close to our mind. But it should be.
Daily Wear and Tear
Did you know that every day you’re doing something to hurt your eye health? Even though you aren’t doing the damage on purpose, your actions are still taking a toll on your vision.
For instance, how long have you been in front of the screen? Have you just been reading this blog, or were you on the computer long before you reached our site? While screen time is probably going to be a part of every day, especially when it comes to work, it doesn’t need to cause problems with our vision. When we stare at a screen, we usually don’t blink as much as usual, which causes irritation and dry eyes. Therefore, when you’re sitting in front of a screen (whether it be smartphone, tablet, computer, etc.), be sure to look away and give your vision a break, at least once an hour for several minutes.
In addition, sleeping in our contacts and eye makeup isn’t just laziness—it causes the risk of infections to increase! No matter how tired you are, always remove your eye makeup and take out your contact lenses.
Does your vision seem a little “off” lately? Do you find yourself squinting a lot more than usual? Call us now for an appointment so that we can find out what’s going on and discuss a treatment plan that gets you back to enjoying your vision again!
